Thinking of buying your kids (or yourself) a general purpose hand-held gaming system (also good for in-flight entertainment)? While they all play games + music, Nintendo's DSi doesn't play movies. And while the Apple iPod Touch is the most expensive system out the door, you'll save hundreds loading it up with games. (Note: Most of the games on the iPod Touch are not as sophisticated, but many times easier to learn and just as addicting. Plus for just a few dollars, you don't feel such the fool plunking down $30 for something your kids never play).

In what must be my first non-animated, non-kid's movie in a year, I ventured out tonight to see the new James Bond film, Casino Royale. After years of over produced, overacted, corn-ball scripted movies, we finally have a winner. The new Bond is grittier, edgier and the best Bond since Sean Connery. The film includes some great action scenes that don't rely on the gadgets of old. Actual running and jumping, kicking and punching ... invisible, submersible, oil slicking, seat ejecting, missile firing cars were left out of this production.
The movie is not perfect. It goes on a bit long and the story gets a bit confused at the end. But if you enjoy action and with journeyman acting, it's definitely worth seeing. |
So the results are in and my predictions were 3/4 -- missed one. The guys were tougher because you could make a case for either Dave or Will, but in the end, America is not ready for another underage, under talented crooner and Dave got the axe.
One of the good things about American Idol is that America (42 million votes this week) doesn't vote for looks alone. There's got to be some talent or just forget it. These two women are already gone cause while they may be good, they're not great singers:
