I miss Donald Rumsfeld press conferences. Haven't seen one in a year. What's more fun than watching Rumsfeld berate reporters for asking dumb, imprecise questions. If I was in his position, I'd be doing the same thing.
Well, now there's The 1000 styles of Rumsfeld pictorial which graphically displays how Rumself stays on top of his game. Don't miss such classics as The Twin Cobra Fist or Spider Hand Technique.

Vincent's 2 years and 3 months and starting to form his own 4 and 5 word sentences. For "his own" sentences, he does not yet have the grammar down.
"Picture wall fall mama," he used to tell Suzy that a picture fell of the wall.
But he also has his standard "goto" phrases, which are correct. Examples include:
Vincent is also in the repeat every word phase. Anytime he hears a new word, he will repeat it. Somewhere back in his mind, I'm sure he's storing them up for later use.
And because he can communicate so much better now, he does scream less. Though he's still loud if you don't pay attention or don't understand what he's saying.

Just before school started for Katherine, we spent four days in Catalina. What a relaxing time. Since the kids keep you home at night, Suzy and I caught up on our reading and sleep. I started and finished two books.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time describes the journey of an autistic 15 year old boy as he discovers who murdered his neighbors dog. One of the best books I've read in a long time. Highly recommended.
Running with Scissorsis a disturbing memoir of a young boy left to be raised by his mom's psychologist so she can handle her own problems. Makes you realize how unfit some people are to be parents. It's a good read, but tough subject matter.
There were certainly numerous chips in the childhood Burroughs describes: an alcoholic father, an unstable mother who gives him up for adoption to her therapist, and an adolescence spent as part of the therapist's eccentric extended family, gobbling prescription meds and fooling around with both an old electroshock machine and a pedophile who lives in a shed out back.

Katherine started kindergarten last Wednesday, September 1st. She has the same kindergarten teacher as Tricia ... 20 years ago. The school starts early too, 8:00am. Last year, we had an extra hour.
It's been a hard week, especially for Suzy. She misses the extra footsteps in house.

Katherine's playing soccer this year. The league, AYSO is all volunteer. Which means parents are responsible for everything, from refereeing to field set up to coaching.
Guess who's head coach? No one else volunteered, so I stepped up. Luckily, AYSO starts you out with a pretty complete kit and some training. Since the kids are pretty young, just 5, there's no official standings or even score keeping. Supposed to be good for kids' self-esteem. Probably good for the coach too.
For your next party, don't forget to customize your stamps. Just upload your favorite digital picture to Stamps.com and print away.
And what party is complete without party goats?

Just don't forget a fence. Works well for goats, puppies and small children.
