Classic Mistake

Classic mistake in photography -- note the antlers coming out of my head. The mistake being that I was not wearing antlers. Works for trees and telephone polls too.

Christmas Eve, 2002.

Brrrr

Let me tell you -- the beach was cold and windy Sunday, so we only stopped for pictures.

Fight for your right

Starting November 24th, 2003, you can switch cell phone carriers and keep your number. I'm on the verge of switching from Cingular to Verizon, as I get 0 reception bars at my house. But I do love my number... Might have to wait this one out. [Wired News]

Granda Stan in Chalk

Katherine's sidewalk chalk portrait of Grandpa Stan. Not bad for 3 "1/2".

Don't look at this chicken

Has science gone too far. Take one look at this bald chicken and you'll know.

Disneyland

Last night, on the way back from <a h

Last night, on the way back from Disneyland, I was once again amazed by the coolness of the iPod and the wife finally agreed. For the holiday season, I have a Christmas music playlist that's kid friendly. After Katherine conked out, I rapidly tired of yuletide cheer and switched over to my other 900 tunes. What a wonder box. Not one commercial in 24 hours+ of original music.

This morning, I went to press play and nothing happened. There was plenty of battery left last night, so what happened? Tried again and again. Just when you get happy with something, it breaks. This is great. Going to have to bring it in, wait a few weeks for repair. Just what I need this holiday season...

Then, I remembered the internet (the thing you're staring at) and the world's greatest search engine. A few clicks later, I arrived on iPodLounge and I saw the light. Also figured out what could have been causing the percieved battery drain -- the alarm clock. Turned that off and I should be getting 10 hours between charges.

Love that internet. Love that iPod.

I'm the Steve Spencer

I've made it to the big leagues now. I'm the number one entry for Steve Spencer on Google.

Turkey Time

6 hours to go

We're cooking a turkey for the first time (I've got to put my hand where and pull out what?). Ralph's gave us a free turkey and now we're sufficiently passed Thanksgiving where I think I can eat turkey again. Don't think too much can go wrong at this point.

5 hours later

It's done. Now what? Dinner's not for another 3 hours... Do I leave the stuffing in or take it out??

$$ Fast Buck $$

"fries" With all the talk about suing fast food companies, one must keep informed about just how many calories are consumed when super-sizing it. First tobacco, now fast food. If judgement goes against the likes of McDonald's in a class-action, who knows, we may all get a free order of fries.

New Baby Growth Chart Web App

Proud parents, want to chart your child's height and weight for the first 3 years? Interested in how they compare with other children? Welcome to the Baby Growth Chart. Enter your child's height and weight measurements from your numerous visits to the Pediatrician and see where they fit in the growth curve. Your child's data is graphed against the standard percentiles -- now when your doctor says your child is in the 95 percentile for height, you'll know what he or she means. More information is available in the "Growth Chart FAQ".

Example growth charts are posted for Katherine and Vincent.

Ballet

Katherine now takes ballet. As a parent, I've never felt prouder than watching her participate in her first class. She was absolutely mortified for the first 10 minutes. She went in the studio, but refused to move or talk. The instructor, Miss Denise, handled it perfectly -- ignored Katherine and taught the class as if Katherine wasn't sitting in the middle of the floor. After a while, Katherine got up and started following the other girls, running, jumping, carrying a bean bag on her head. By the end of the class, Katherine was sitting next to the teacher, hanging on to her every word. I most want a picture of this -- the expression on Katherine's face, with her big blue eyes, looking up to the teacher.

The above picture is from yesterday, her 2nd class.
