Vincent's 2nd grade cousin played "In the Hall of the Mountain King" at the school's talent show. Once again the video is crappy and I tried iMovie's stabilization feature. Bright lights would have helped.

After his first year of piano lessons, Vincent volunteered to play Aura Lee in the talent show at school. Video comes from a digital "camera" so it's not the best; we'll see if the camcorder did any better... Video was super shaky too, so I tried out iMovie's new stabilization feature (which basically just zooms in, so the video is every blurrier).

Happy Birthday (40) to me. Took the day off work and went to see "Gran Torino." When Suzy was picking up the kids, I dusted off the ol' guitar and played a few licks.

To give Katherine extra practice with multiplication, I made up a randomly generated multiplication worksheet. Refresh the browser to get new numbers. The worksheet prints on 2 pages: page one - 20 multiplication problems; page two - answer key.

The worksheet supports 2x2, 3x2 and 4x2 multiplication.

Every fourth grader in California learns about the California Missions. Katherine's mission is La Purisima Concepción, in Lompoc. The original mission was destroyed in an earthquake in 1812 and rebuilt a few miles away. The rebuilt mission is linear in shape, unlike all other missions.

Katherine built her mission with sesame seeds for the path and floor tile, kidney beans for the roof and parsley for the grass. Smells good too :-)
